Barry Weiss - The Grown Up Kid
Barry Weiss is quite like a kid, except for the fact that he is old and has a wholesale business of his own. But the fact remains that he refuses to grow up.
He flashes those super custom made toys, his habitual glasses and gloves. Barry Weiss’s presence, coupled with his sardonic negotiating skills has given Storage Wars a phenomenal success.
When the first and second season aired, it was A&E’s most top rated show. You would never know what Barry would do next-how would he say next, with whom would he place a bet, how much would he bid, or which vehicle would he be arriving in.
To the envy of the other contestants, Barry Weiss, though in his 60s, is extremely likeable and the most popular element on the show. For a show where buyers just get a sneak-peek into the contents of somebody’s abandoned storage unit and accordingly bid carefully for the entire unit, Barry Weiss is extremely composed.
In his wholesale business days, he earned a fortune, with his net worth estimated to be more than $ 9 million (!! Yes, that’s correct! His company Northern Produce imported and exported fresh and exotic wholesale vegetables and fruits). Now that he has had a successful business, he is not on the show for the money.

Barry agreed to join the show as a buyer due to its “fun” factor. He has been harboring a liking for exotic antiques and collectibles since a very young age.
And with his fortune, it has been possible for him to collect as many as he wanted. After retiring from his business, where his brother Joey is still the CEO, Barry Weiss travelled the world for a bit to enhance his collection.
Ultimately, he grew tired and longed for home. The creator of the show, Thom Beers, happened to be his friend and suggested that Barry enter the show.
The rest is well known. The show sees a lot of angst amongst the co-contestants.
Barry, with his “accomplices” like psychics, a man on stilts, remote controlled helicopters fitted with cameras, has become the cool kid. By his own admission, his “mission on the show is to disrupt and annoy” his fellow buyers.
While the others are professional buyers and take the business of bidding on these “treasure” goods very seriously, Barry is on the show to alarm the others. On the personal front, Barry Weiss is single and would not mind getting to mingle again.
Marriage proposals have been pouring in for this dashing old kid in his 60s. Females throng him wherever he goes-be it in public or on the sets.

Barry Weiss seems to be in a really good place right now. His 1947 Custom Cadillac has been enjoying an equal amount of attention.
Barry Weiss says he doesn’t sell the items he collects on the show thereby not making as much money as the others. He has an innate sense for collection.
He vows to continue unsettling the fellow buyers.
